The Paycare Pirates are back in action – fundraising and hoping to take home the treasure for two worthy charities.

Our team mateys are set to take part in the Dragon Boat Race next Sunday (May 21st) at Himley Hall. It marks the return to racing for some of the team, who have taken part previously, while for others it’s the first time joining the Paycare Pirates in their mission to reach the finish line first and raise plenty of loot.

The event has been running for many years, and often attracts around 2,000 spectators. It’s organised by The Rotary Club of Wolverhampton, who will benefit from half of the money raised by the Paycare team – with the other half going to the Black Country Foodbank.

Team organiser Bonnie Webb, who works in our IT team, said:

“The Rotary Club work to improve health and the environment, provide quality education, and alleviate poverty around the world; and the Black Country Foodbank support vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of emergency food and toiletry supplies, which is so important at the moment with more people than ever relying on foodbanks. Demand has increased by 90% this year compared to last, so donations are vital to help ensure they can continue their amazing work.

“It’s the fourth time we have entered a team in the Dragon Boat Race, so we’re hoping those on the team who’ve taken part before will help row us to victory!

“In reality, our focus is on having a great day with support from colleagues, friends and family on the side-lines, and of course fundraising as much money as we can for our chosen good causes.”
