Founded in 1874 by the foremen of some of Wolverhampton’s largest factories, in a bid to protect their employees from crippling medical bills, Paycare has since grown to become one of the most respected health cover providers in the UK.
1874
The first Hospital Saturday was held in Wolverhampton
1931
The Royal Hospital Contributary Association was established for a maximum of 3d per week
1948
With the birth of the NHS, the Contributary Association was dissolved and replaced by the new Wolverhampton & District Patient’s Aid Association
1953
Hospital in-patient, optical and dental benefits were introduced to the Paycare plans
1964
Patient’s Aid Association became a company limited by guarantee
1989
Paycare House was officially opened by Billy Wright CBE
1996
Sponsorship of the Wolves’ Disabled Lounge was launched
2005
Official name change to Paycare and ranked #1 Cash Plan Provider by Money Saving Expert a year later
2007
Paycare awarded winner of ‘Business Commitment to the Community’ by the Black Country Chamber
2009
Paycare launched free redundancy cover for Paycare members
2016
Launch of MyPaycare Online Claiming Platform through Paycare website
