As part of our mission to help businesses look after their staff, we’ve launched a dedicated service aimed at those new to staff perks.

The Paycare team is delighted to have launched Paycare Protect — a brand-new entry-level plan aimed at helping businesses effectively support their team’s mental, physical and financial wellbeing. Sounds great, right?

We’ve carefully crafted the new plan following feedback from fellow Patrons and Members of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, who — like us — understand the very real need for businesses in the region to support their staff’s health and wellbeing.

It’s been designed with businesses in mind who are new to the concept (and perhaps don’t know where to start), don’t have big budgets, or want a more streamlined level of cover.

Paycare Protect is available to businesses employing over 20 employees and costs just over £4 a month per employee, offering cashback on dental, optical, and professional therapy bills, including physiotherapy, hypnotherapy, chiropody and chiropractic treatment – there’s a lot!

It also includes Redundancy Premium Protection for up to six months, free cover for any children under 18, and Paycare Perks — an exclusive online platform for individuals to access discounts, vouchers and rewards on everyday purchases such as insurance, travel and entertainment.

What’s more, employers can choose to introduce an Employee Assistance Programme for just 10p per employee per week as an additional service, which provides a completely confidential support service for any employees struggling with mental, physical or financial worries.

Our CEO, Kevin Rogers, explained: “We recognise that some businesses simply don’t have the budget to spend on employee packages with bells and whistles, or those new to the idea could think it’s something that only big corporates can do.

“However, SMEs are critical to the wider economy in terms of employment opportunities, and we wanted to launch a service that brings them benefits as employers too by offering their staff cover for core healthcare services, including optical, dental, and professional therapies.”

Not only can such benefits help retain existing staff, but they can also make a company attractive to potential recruits – win win! A UK study by Glassdoor found that 57 per cent of respondents said that benefits and perks play a major role when deciding whether to pursue a particular job and Inc. reported 80 per cent of employees would choose additional benefits over a pay raise.

“In many areas of the UK and within many sectors, employees can often become swayed to a company that not only offers a fair salary, but which invests in its team’s health.

“Our new plan will help businesses compete with firms who are already heavily investing in staff health and wellbeing, and benefit from similar results including better productivity and profitability, retention of existing staff and attracting new ones.”
