Employees from a local health cash plan provider have helped a young adventurer smash his ambitious fundraising goal.
The team at Wolverhampton-based Paycare pledged their support to fearless fundraiser James March from Tettenhall, who recently braved one of the world’s toughest endurance races.
James took on the gruelling Jungle Ultra trek last month – a 230km, five-day race through the Manu National Park, located in the Amazon basin of Peru. His incredible effort was in aid of both the Wolverhampton MS Centre and WalkOnceMore, with the funds helping to make a real difference to individuals – including James’ own mother – suffering from Multiple Sclerosis.
Touched by James’ story and inspired by his commitment, members of the Paycare team stepped up to show their support through the organisation’s MyGiving initiative. The scheme provides every employee with £250 each year which they’re encouraged to use to back causes close to their hearts or to kickstart their own dedicated fundraisers.
James initially aimed to raise a total of £8000 for his charities and has already exceeded this – with donations continuing to come in.
Ant Burns, CEO of Paycare, said: “The challenge that James set himself – and achieved – was phenomenal, and truly shows what a determined, resilient, and passionate individual he is. We’re proud to have supported James’ journey through our MyGiving scheme and to have played a small part in helping him reach, and exceed, his fundraising goals.”
James added: “Undertaking the Jungle Ultra was an amazing, and wild, experience and one that I will never forget. Whilst I prepared for everything that could happen, nothing actually prepares you for when it does. We certainly got the full jungle experience over the five days – intense humidity, thunderstorms, unpredictable wildlife, and remote living!
“Knowing that I had the support from an organisation like Paycare gave me a real boost – a business that is so invested in supporting both their team and their wider community. I’m incredibly grateful for their donation and encouragement throughout this adventure.”
