With June on the horizon and the warmer weather starting to make an appearance, we thought it would be a great time to share a lovely community story with you all!

The Grosvenor Health and Social Care Group are a domiciliary care provider. Friendly and fully trained staff deliver high quality care and support designed to meet individual care needs.

The fantastic group care across 60 different locations across the country, serving both the private and public sectors including local authorities and hospitals, employing over 5,000 staff. And recently, towards the end of 2017, began supporting The Care Workers Charity.

So, who are The Care Workers Charity?

Well, just to give you all a little bit of context – there are 1.5 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

For the UK’s care workers, early starts, long hours and mentally draining work are part and parcel of the job. But, as a result, it’s all too easy for illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, to push them beyond their financial limits.

The Care Workers Charity helps current, former and retired care workers who are experiencing financial hardship in the form of grants. They provide hardship grants to the individuals who have worked in registered residential care, home care or supported living services.

Care workers look after our society’s most vulnerable individuals, often for little reward. They spend their careers assisting others, but when circumstances change, sometimes it is the carers who need some help.

The Grosvenor Health and Social Care Group saw a real opportunity to help support and raise much needed funds for this charity – something we, at Paycare, love to get involved with.

Aside from the typical bake sales that are usually a favourite when raising money for charity, the group saw an opportunity to create a bigger project!

By the end of March 2019, ‘Cooking is Caring’ was produced. The Cooking Is Caring cookbook was developed and put together by the team (yes, including staff members!) at Grosvenor Health and Social Care in support of The Care Workers Charity (CWC).

Unlike a typical ‘Celebrity Chef’ cookbook, it features real, unedited photos of the dishes, even including photos of the staff working hard at making their favourite dishes with family! Whether it’s one of the team members’ homemade recipes, or even a recipe handed down from generations – the cookbook is filled with hearty, traditional reinvented family favourites suitable for everyone!

Some of the super tasty recipes in the book include Vegetable Pakoras, White Stilton, Apricot and Red Onion Tart and Smokey Sweet Potato, Butternut Squash and Chicken Hash.

They sound delicious right? Well, you can get your hands on your very own copy for as little as £4.00. Available to buy on The Care Workers Charity website shop: https://www.thecareworkerscharity.org.uk/shop/cooking-is-caring

A member of the team at Grosvenor said they aim to sell as many as possible, with their long term goal being to create another bigger and better Cookbook by the end of the year, with their next Cooking Is Caring edition including more wholesome recipes!

In the back of the cookbook, Darren Stapelberg, Managing Director, thanked all staff, family and friends for their support and tasty entries,

“I would like to thank all of those who sent in recipes and contributed to this great little cookbook. It is full of home-cooked favourites and there is something in here for everyone. This is for a fantastic cause and I am so proud of our efforts as a group. Congratulations to our Winner Anthony and special thanks to our Employment Compliance Team for putting this together.”

What a great idea – we have even grabbed ourselves a copy over here at the Paycare Office! Don’t forget, you can get a copy of the Cookbook delivered straight to your door over at:
