Attendees taking part in an eight-week mental and physical health project had the chance to learn more about anxiety thanks to our Mental Health expert!

Kerry B Mitchell, Paycare Wellbeing Manager, joined in a Head 4 Health session at Wolverhampton Wanderers’ ground to share information about coping strategies and thinking skills.

This Managing Anxiety session formed part of the project, led by Wolves Foundation and funded by the Premier League & Professional Footballers Association with additional funding from City of Wolverhampton Council.

Attendees aged 18 and over, take part in sessions aimed at improving their health and wellbeing, and Extra Time sessions where they can talk in a safe and relaxed environment.

Kerry explains:

“We started off with an overview of anxiety, as not everyone realises it can incorporate a range of conditions including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, and Generalised Anxiety Disorder.

“We had great feedback, with attendees saying they enjoyed being able to talk about anxiety in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere – also covering potentially negative language, coping strategies, grounding, breathing techniques and much more.

“There are so many people impacted by anxiety, the onus is on all of us – employees and individuals – to learn more about the topic and have enough knowledge to respond sensitively and appropriately.”

A great session – well done to everyone involved! 🧡
