Celebrating Community and Giving Back: Paycare’s 150th Family Funday

On September 1, 2024, Paycare proudly hosted a day of fun, and celebration at The Paycare Stadium, home of Darlaston Town (1874) FC, to commemorate Paycare’s 150th anniversary and long-standing support for local initiatives. The day featured a spirited charity football match, with the Paycare All Stars emerging victorious against the Darlaston Vets with a score of 3-1.

Paycare has always believed in the power of community, and this event exemplified their commitment to making a positive impact in the areas they serve. Proceeds from the day, totalling £2000, were generously divided among three local charities: YMCA Black Country, The Good Shepherd, and The Haven Wolverhampton. This support highlights Paycare’s dedication to addressing important social issues within the community.

The Family Funday was met with enthusiastic participation from local families, who enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the day. With the weather in their favour, attendees were treated to a lively atmosphere, special appearances from mascots Wolfie and Darlo Dog, and the camaraderie of friends and neighbours coming together for a worthy cause.

Supporting Local Charities
The charities benefiting from the day’s efforts each play a vital role in the community, helping those in need and creating pathways for a brighter future. Representatives from the organizations expressed their gratitude for Paycare’s support:

YMCA Black Country
Grace Maddocks, Head of Communications, said, “We’re so grateful for Paycare’s kindness and support. The funds raised will significantly contribute to our Brighter Futures Fund, enabling us to develop youth programs that provide safe spaces for children across the Black Country.”

A Community Commitment

By partnering with organizations that tackle homelessness, youth development, and domestic abuse, Paycare aims to foster a safer, more supportive community for everyone.

The success of the Family Funday was made possible through the collaboration of local businesses and organizations, including Tough Enough to Care, Tails from the Gorge, Wellbeing with Gemma, Thorns Solicitors, Mehndi by Henna, Sandwell Deaf Society, James Davison (Mindy’s Journey), The University of Wolverhampton, MJ Antics (Animal Man), and entertainer Niel Jackson.
