Wolverhampton-based Health Cash Plan provider Paycare has relocated from our long-standing city centre offices to a modern, purpose-designed base at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park. The move marks a key milestone in our 2025–2028 vision to boost health and wellbeing across the Black Country.
Commenting on the move, our CEO Ant Burns said:
“After more than three decades in our previous home, it became clear that while we had adapted the space over time, it no longer met the needs of our ever-evolving team or our future ambitions. So, we sought a location that could support our people, align with our strategic vision, and enable future growth.
“We consulted our team from the outset, asking what they wanted from a new workplace. Safety, flexibility, accessibility, and opportunities for collaboration were top priorities. After an extensive search, it was clear that the University of Wolverhampton Science Park met every requirement, offering adaptable workspaces, free parking, enhanced wellbeing facilities, and an inherent culture of innovation – all designed to help our people thrive.
“With the facility already home to a number of health-focused organisations, being part of this vibrant hub further strengthens our links with the NHS and wider health sector – supporting our ongoing commitment to complementing current NHS provision, leading preventative health initiatives, and improving outcomes for the communities we serve.”
“Our new base also opens up greater opportunities to collaborate with the University of Wolverhampton, a vital strategic partner in the region. Leveraging the university’s research expertise, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs), and data-driven innovation, we can drive product development forward, enhance the experiences of our Policyholders, and contribute even more to the health and wellbeing of our local population.”
The move also reflects our ambition to become ‘the place to work’ in the region — promoting staff wellbeing, creativity, and growth in a safe workplace, while staying true to our not-for-profit mission.
Situated at the heart of the Green Innovation Corridor, the University of Wolverhampton Science Park is part of a forward-thinking initiative led by the City of Wolverhampton Council and the University of Wolverhampton — promoting green construction, computing and engineering, to support advanced manufacturing in its transition to net zero. This includes sustainable growth with energy-efficient buildings, net-zero development zones, and plans for 20,000sqm of eco-conscious commercial space. With £27 million in government funding and West Midlands Investment Zone status, the corridor offers new opportunities for collaboration, skills development, and regional health innovation.
Nigel Babb, Commercial Director at the Science Park, said:
“We’re pleased that a company with Paycare’s heritage in Wolverhampton has decided to join our community. With leading figures such as Professor Prashant Pillai MBE driving innovation at the University, there are huge opportunities for collaboration to help develop the next generation of products and maintain a skilled workforce, as well as with fellow tenants who can benefit from Paycare’s fantastic portfolio. We are looking forward to being a part of Paycare’s new strategy.”
Ant concluded:
“Looking ahead to our 152nd year, this move symbolises much more than a new home — it’s about setting our direction for the future and marks the first tangible milestone in the delivery of our newly launched strategy. We are shaping a workplace that inspires our people, champions wellbeing, strengthens partnerships, and bolsters our support for the NHS by designing and delivering proactive health solutions across the Black Country.”
