It’s been an incredibly frustrating time for many community and sporting clubs during the pandemic restrictions – and we’ve been keeping in touch with the groups we sponsor during this time, so we know how busy the Libra Lea Netball Club players have kept themselves!

Thankfully, they’ve now been able to swap at-home training strength and conditioning training for the real deal, taking part in their first tournament in 2 years at the Wright Robinson Centre in Oldham recently.

Our Partnerships Engagement Officer Sally Bromley was there to watch the team get through to the cup knock-out stage in the afternoon…

“The standard of play was very high, and Libra got themselves through to the quarter final with a fine display of through court attacking netball. Sadly, they came up against a very strong team from Tameside – but the girls can be proud of their performance and a great day was had by all.

“The tournament also provided an opportunity for the girls to showcase their brand-new dresses, purchased with the support of their Paycare sponsorship. We are thrilled to be supporting this family-orientated netball club for the sixth year running this season!”

Club Vice-Chair Jane Jones added:

“It’s just great to be back and able to play netball again. Like every other sports club, the Covid restrictions hit us really hard and we just couldn’t wait to get out on court.

“It’s fantastic to know Paycare are sponsoring us again this season and continue to support local grassroots sport.”

We’ll be closely following the team’s progress in the West Midlands Regional League Division 2 this season – good luck ladies! 🙌🏀
