We are delighted to announce we are marking joining Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce by offering a virtual training session aimed at increasing attendees’ knowledge and understanding of mental ill health 🧠

Paycare is a Midlands-based Health Cash Plan provider which launched in 1874 as Patient’s Aid Association. As well as offering individuals, families, businesses and their employees access to a variety of preventative and reactive healthcare services which protect their financial, physical and mental health and wellbeing, we are a not-for-profit organisation which has donated more than £2.2 million to various causes.

In 2019, the dedicated Paycare Wellbeing mental health service was launched to provide confidential training to corporate groups including managers, CEOs and HR teams. Wellbeing Manager Kerry B Mitchell is a qualified Mental Health First Aid trainer and will be leading a session hosted by the Chamber (open to members and non-members) on Wednesday 16th December from 10am to 12pm 💻

The introductory mental health training session is suitable for those with little or no experience of mental health, as well as those wishing to refresh their knowledge. Attendees will learn the common signs and symptoms of mental health conditions, how to manage stress within the workplace, how to look after their own mental health while supporting others, and begin to understand the mental health continuum and the notion of recovery.

Kerry said:

“One in four people will experience mental ill health in any given year, and this number is set to rise due to the damaging long-term effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. As well as the compassionate reasons managers and team leaders may want to find out more about mental health, there are also multiple business benefits to having a better understanding and fostering a workplace where there is no stigma around mental health – including a reduction in sickness absence, presenteeism, and increased motivation and morale. A wealth of research backs up the principle that mental health training will result in a company where employees are happier, healthier and potentially more loyal!”
