We have very exciting news! Our much loved and much used digital doctor service (GP 24/7) is being relaunched with a new name, look and feel as MyPocketGP. The innovative service which has a long history of helping Policyholders and Members access vital GP appointments over the years, has been given an exciting new look as part of improvements to the experience for all of our users.

We’ve listened to the feedback of our valued Policyholders and Members to make it easier than ever to access the essential support of a practising Doctor. You’ll recognise our infamously ‘friendly’ branding when you log on, and the app benefits from a simplified layout, clear access points, links to health information and an overhauled experience for mobile devices.

It’ll come as very welcome news for our Policyholders and Members, who make regular use of the app and benefit from non-urgent appointments with a GP. Giving wonderful feedback on the service, one Policyholder tweeted:

“Helpful advice from @MyPaycare GP just now; speedy, supportive and protecting the NHS. What’s not to like”.

With 10 million people predicted to be on NHS waiting lists by the end of 2020 according to the BBC, it’s easy to see why feedback from Paycare’s Groups found that employees were postponing both essential and preventative healthcare due to work or family commitments.

Our Policyholders and Members, where covered, can call or message a GP to book a telephone consultation at a time to suit them, 365 days a year; and video consultations are also offered from 8am to 10pm, excluding Bank Holidays. Offering a reassurance and support at any time of the night or day, reducing the complexity of fitting GP appointments into busy lives, and helping Policyholders and Members to stay happy and healthy.

Private prescriptions issued as a result of a MyPocketGP appointment can be delivered directly to the patient’s door or to a nominated pharmacy, making it really easy to start your treatment as soon as possible for minor ailments. Open referrals can also be issued where the doctor feels further treatment is necessary, getting support from specialists to help bring you back to good health as quickly as possible.

Our amazing NHS are overstretched and sadly underfunded. GPs were already struggling to keep up with demand amid warnings of rising waiting times. This combined with the additional pressure from the Coronavirus pandemic, means it’s now more essential than ever that patients have access to timely support and advice from GPs.

Policyholders and Members are essentially carrying an NHS doctor around in their pocket, who they can call upon as many times as they need at whatever time is convenient for them. This is a huge comfort to the reams of current users and we’ve no doubt that you’ll absolutely love the simplified look and feel of the MyPocketGP.

It’s not just about waiting times – phone and video consultations mean you can stay safely at home, don’t need to take time off work, take any unnecessary risks or travel to appointments and can arrange a chat with a GP around work, childcare or other commitments.

The app is provided by a third party who are a longstanding partner of Paycare, Medical Solutions. They are exceptionally experienced in delivery of such services, this experience allows them to ensure maximum security for patients’ details, using their knowledge to deliver such fantastic applications to give possible usability and security of data.

The MyPocketGP digital doctor service is offered as part of most of Paycare’s Health Cash Plan, Wellbeing benefits and is also a key feature of the newly launched Bundle wellbeing service. If you’d like more information about you or your team becoming a Policyholder or a Member, do get in touch with the team!

We’re so excited for the new launch, and we’d love to hear what you think of MyPocketGP once you’ve had a chance to have a look at the new app!
