First team keeper at Wolves for over a decade, Matt is now a familiar face on Sky’s Soccer Saturday, and is also an active Ambassador for the Wolves Community Trust.
The Molineux legend will work alongside our wider team, as well as partners and affiliates, to support our work across the city and beyond.
Matt said: “It’s an absolute honour to have been invited to become Paycare’s new President, not least because I’m stepping into the shoes of such a wonderful individual as Rachael Heyhoe-Flint. Rachael was a truly amazing person and I hope that I can honour her legacy in some small way by continuing to support the Paycare team and the incredible work it does for our local communities.
“I’ve seen first-hand how passionate Paycare is about the city of Wolverhampton, and how it works tirelessly to bring the community together, to promote inclusivity, and to make a real difference to people’s lives – and I am hugely excited about the opportunity to work together with the team to help promote and support everything it does, now and in the future.”
A not-for-profit organisation, Paycare has been based in Wolverhampton for over 140 years and has, to-date, donated over £2million to worthwhile causes, initiatives and projects UK-wide. Paycare is also Wolverhampton Wanderers’ longest continuous current sponsor and last year signed a three season deal as official back of shirt sponsors. The organisation has supported the Club’s Accessible Lounge (now the ‘Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Accessible Lounge, in association with Paycare’) for over two decades, a facility which provides Wolves’ disabled supporters with access to a range of dedicated facilities and activities.
Kevin Rogers, CEO of Paycare, said: “Matt’s strong affiliation with Wolves, his role as official Ambassador of Wolves’ Community Trust, and the fantastic work he does himself within our local communities makes him the perfect fit for Paycare. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome him and are very much looking forward to working with him over the months and years ahead.”
