With domestic abuse rates sadly rising during the pandemic, we want to continue highlighting the need for community support 💚

The team have been long-time supporters of The Haven Wolverhampton – and our CEO Kevin Rogers is urging others not to forget those who have escaped violent home lives during the Covid-19 crisis.

He says:

“The services provided by The Haven have always been essential, but even more so during the past year when domestic abuse organisations have tragically seen sharp rises in the number of incidents reported – especially during times of national lockdown.

“The pandemic has been tough for every family, but it’s unimaginable to think of needing to escape from your own home to a refuge with your children, often unable to take any possessions with you.

“That’s why we recently donated to the Big Give campaign, money which will The Haven team will use to buy essentials such as new bedding and crockery in refuges across Wolverhampton. Having this sort of homeware in the refuges will make the women and children there feel a little more comfortable and cared for after experiencing the trauma of domestic abuse and fleeing their home.”

The £250 donated by Paycare was quadrupled through match funding as part of the campaign, which raised a total of £8,000.

We also sponsor a live chat facility on The Haven’s website which, alongside their 24-hour helpline, enables people to directly reach out to the charity when they are in need.

Jade Secker, Fundraising Manager at The Haven Wolverhampton, said:

“We are so grateful for the ongoing care and support of Kevin and the team at Paycare. Their support ensures vital services at The Haven can continue to be there for women and children in their darkest hour. Over Christmas, police in the West Midlands were called to a staggering 1,250 incidents of domestic abuse; this was a 60% increase on the same period last year1 – this demonstrates just how vital the support from Paycare – thank you so much to the team.”

The Haven supports women and dependent children at risk from domestic violence, homelessness, and abuse.

Their helpline is 24/7 and is free from a landline – 08000 194 400.

The live chat is available from 9am to 5pm every weekday, and those in need can visit https://www.havenrefuge.org.uk/ for access 📞💻

Please reach out to this fantastic charity if you need their support – they’re always here for you 😊
Our Community is at the heart of everything we do 💚
