When Saranjit Nagra landed a temporary job at Paycare, little did she imagine she’d still be here four decades later.
But that’s exactly what happened, with Saranjit celebrating an incredible 40 years with us this month (November).
Originally taken on to assist on the switchboard, she also worked as a receptionist, claims clerk and administration manager before becoming compliance manager – a role she’s held for well over ten years.
Since 1981, there have been many changes within the organisation, as well as within the healthcare and insurance industries.
And Saranjit has been there to witness them all – including the move to Paycare House on George Street in 1989, becoming the first Health Cash Plan to introduce BACS payments, the introduction of Employee Assistance Programmes and Wellbeing Services, and online claiming.
She says:
“One of the highlights of my career has been receiving an award for Cash Plan Investigator of the Year through the Health Insurance Counter Fraud Group in 2012.
“If I could go back and give myself a piece of advice on that very first day it would be around confidence – I was so shy I wouldn’t even look up when I was talking to people. So, my advice would be don’t be shy and look people in the eye.”
“My role as compliance manager is varied which I thoroughly enjoy. My colleague are the most loving and caring individuals – my Paycare family.”
CEO Kevin Rogers added:
“I actually can’t find the words to do justice to what Saranjit means to Paycare and me. She has devoted pretty much her entire working life to Paycare. Worked in many different roles, always giving her all to them. She is a font of all knowledge and someone I have had total support from in my time here.
“She is an absolute legend, and her values are what Paycare is built upon.”
A huge congratulations again from the team at Paycare, Saranjit! Paycare House really wouldn’t be the same without you 😊🧡
