Follow Paycare’s very own Emily Glew as she embarks on an adventure across the Amazon rainforest in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.
Not only does Emily have to survive in the primordial rainforest on foot, she’ll also have to learn to canoe along winding rivers of the Amazon jungle.
Emily will have to live alongside thousands of species of animals and insects, and even take part in nocturnal wildlife excursions to track down rare species!
During her adventure, Emily will be pushed to her physical and mental limits, all in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. Help to make it all worthwhile by donating below.
Day one: Waving goodbye to her family and friends, Emily embarks on a 17-hour flight to the Amazon.
Day two: Emily lands in Manaus, Amazona, and enjoys one last night in civilisation before the big trek!
Day three: It’s time to enter the jungle! Emily sets up her hammock in the morning, learns to canoe in the afternoon and embarks on a night-time wildlife trek!
Day four: Emily has an early rise at 5 am to spot exotic birdlife before canoeing to the next campsite. Keep your eyes out for rare pink and grey dolphins, Emily!
Day five: Emily continues to hike through the verdant rainforest before she learns to fish for her own dinner tonight!
Day six: Emily takes the paddle once again to explore the Igapó forest, before meeting and dining with an indigenous tribe.
Day seven: Emily heads back towards civilisation, learning about the local rubber trees and the history of modern Brazil on the way.
Day eight: On her return to Manaus, Emily gets a celebratory meal, cosy bed and her first proper shower in days!
Day nine: Emily arrives back in Blighty with a great sense of pride and achievement. Well done Emily!
